    Both civilizations relied heavily on farmers who were the lifeblood of the civilization and the providers of food and other useful materials. Although farmers were essential to each civilization, in both cases they were at the bottom of the social ladder. However, in Egyptian society, farmers can teach their children different skills, such as becoming a merchant and craftsman, and eventually, with a small chance, entering the ruling class. This was not the case in the Aryan civilization, as each person was born into a caste and could not progress or change levels in the caste system – the order being the Brahmins (the priests and the king), the Kshatriyas (the warriors and aristocrats, the ruling class), the Vaishyas (the cultivators, artisans and merchants, and the Shudras (the peasants and surfers). Another major differentiation is that women did not have many rights in Indian civilization, only men could own land and receive education. Women were solely responsible for the birth of children and the maintenance of the household. On the other hand, Egyptian women enjoyed status. much higher and of greater independence than the women of the ancient world As Ramses II declared: “The foot of an Egyptian woman can walk wherever it pleases and no one can refuse her” In comparison with. women of the Indus Valley, Egyptian women led noble lives, as Egyptian law allowed them to inherit property and enter.
