For Harvey, the importance of better roads in the northwest Arkansas region was to bring more people to his beloved Monte Ne. In Coin's day, travel was increasing, but the roads were still better suited to wagon wheels than new automobile tires. Coin wanted a well-mapped and unified highway system that would have clearly marked and well-maintained routes, connecting all of the United States and leading back to Monte Ne. In establishing the Ozarks Trails Association for the purpose of improving roads and marking all connecting routes in the Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas area, Coin and the OTA released the first ever road map in the United States.
