  • Essay / A treatment of the messages from Tintern Abbey - 724

The transition from the age of reason to the romantic period changed a lot among the authors of literary works. The poets who belong to the Age of Reason around 1700 and the many famous poets before them all wrote different types of poetry. Over the decades of this country, there have been many different changes in poetry, it has evolved in every country and has also evolved around the world. Poets like Williamworth, William Blake and Robert Burns belong to the Romantic period where poets of that era wanted to make poetry easier to read and understand, while giving it a deeper meaning that goes beyond the obvious . One poet mentioned at this time, Williamworth, was very focused on this type of poetry, becoming one of the most famous and important poets in our history. One poem that placed him on the supreme stage with the rest of these most famous poets is Tintern Abbey. This poem ranges from simple to complex and conveys many messages at different stages of Wordworth's life. However, in Williamworth's poem Tintern Abbey, Worth conveys three important messages: by referring to the past, explaining the present, and discussing the future. To illustrate its past, Williamworth uses the famous Tintern Abbey Cathedral to restore its memory. In this poem, Worth revisits a place that is very close to his heart, Tintern Abbey, which is a cathedral. In the second part of the poem, he begins to think about himself when he was younger. On page 783, lines 80-91, “An appetite; a feeling and a love, which needed no more remote charm, which thought furnished me, nor any interest which was not borrowed from the eye. At the end of the poem, he wishes for his sister to become a lover of nature because he knows that if she does, nature will in turn be kind to her and give her peace as she gave him. Knowing that his youthful years are over, he wishes the best for his sister, essentially predicting for her what will happen to her in the future and how to overcome it all. To conclude, Williamworth had many, many important messages hidden in Tintern Abbey. The first is that of the past in which he remembers himself. Another is the future where he is grateful to nature. Then finally, at the end, when he wishes his sister the best. These are all important things for us to remember in our own lives. Don't give up and always have life and hope in our daily walk. Instead of just standing up to be grumpy, angry people. Works Cited Tintern Abbey by Williamworth
