Since my appointment at Hillingdon School I have had the opportunity to play a vital role in the advancement of the ICT and Business departments as well as the Technology curriculum area. These roles, alongside my time within the wider ICT development group at the school, have enabled me to gain a strong set of skills, experience and knowledge which will enable me to helped prepare me for a leadership role at a high-performing school. Indeed, my experience of working within a school which achieved the highest rating in each of the key inspection questions has given me an awareness of what is needed for continued school improvement and pursuit of educational excellence. I firmly believe that the primary focus of any senior staff member should always be on learning and teaching, even if they are involved in the intricacies of strategic management. In my own roles over the past nine years, I have tried to keep this mantra in mind. I believe a strong leader should be able to get things done rather than being totally reactive in managing day-to-day processes. I would strive to be a transformational assistant principal, constantly looking forward and shaping the future of learning rather than being purely transactional.
