  • Essay / Observation and Analysis of Group Thinking - 1196

During the last few classes, I noticed that I was taking on the role of leader, overstepping my boundaries and becoming almost authoritarian towards the other members of my group. I don't deny it, but I won't deny that I put in the work to make sure the group was on the right track. I took on the leadership role as a coach because I showed people how things should be done. I never ordered anyone. I was assured of this because Swen was the leader and took care more of the non-verbal communication between the group that made everyone happy. With expectations so high, there was never a time when he didn't need to play peacekeeper. John, on the other hand, was the glue of the group, keeping people together without even realizing it. By applying comic relief at just the right moment, John kept us sane throughout this latter part of the film.
