Having support from others can encourage a person to work harder to achieve their goal. For example, in high school, most students never consider the importance of their guidance counselors until their senior year of high school. Figuring out plans after high school can get stressful and requires additional guidance. In addition to being the backbone of student success in higher education, guidance counselor jobs must provide students with the means necessary to excel in high school and beyond. This includes selecting courses that best match a student's academic abilities, providing scholarship information, assisting with academic research, and offering volunteer opportunities. Likewise, guidance counselors also have an obligation to meet the needs of their students and encourage them to work harder for themselves. They constantly remind students of deadlines; through emails, phone calls and public announcements over the intercom. This type of persistence pushes students to submit their documents by the due date. For a person to accept a job like this is a big responsibility!
