The 20th century was the period between January 1, 1901 and December 31, 2000. What was the new wave of immigration that took place in the United States at the end of the 20th century?Immigration flows in the United States resemble waves, with the number of immigrants increasing to higher peaks or waves, then falling into lower numbers, these are lower peaks. The fourth major wave of American immigration began in 1965. Immigration began to increase since the early 1980s. Many Americans wanted the government to reduce the number of immigrants allowed into the United States. Some Americans felt like their jobs were being taken away from them and given to immigrants cheaply, causing them to lose their jobs or make it harder to find work. The U.S. Immigration Commission said that between the 1980s and 2000, 2.4 million unauthorized Mexican aliens entered the United States. Expired work and study visas from Europe, Asia and other countries have also allowed unauthorized foreigners to remain in the United States. What effect did this have on food and the culinary world in the United States? Immigration changes society, our way of living and the introduction of different types of cuisine. Although most international dishes have been somewhat Americanized to suit our tastes, others remain authentic. Chefs and cooks had to learn different cooking styles and use different meats and poultry. Uses of vegetables, spices and herbs from these regions that they may have never used before. What equipment has provided an easy route into the restaurant industry for these new culinary trends?
