  • Essay / The Woodson Foundation and its low...

The Woodson Foundation, which is a non-profit organization, after months of negotiation, will develop a new agency with the National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education. education (NCPIE) which contribute to improving the organization. The main improvements mainly concern teachers. Teacher turnover is high and they lose enthusiasm for helping students. Low student achievement and crime are also areas that need improvement within the school system. Identifying Problems The main problem of the foundation is related to the students. Low student achievement and high crime rates are the main reason why schools are not performing at the levels they should. When students do not perform at the expected level, then teachers must work harder in the classroom to improve students' academic performance. This brings us to the secondary problem of high teacher turnover. Teachers continually leave the classroom because they are sufficiently motivated to cope with schools' declining performance and are exhausted. There's only so much you can handle as an individual and these teachers obviously can't handle what's happening in the current situation in schools. Solutions The main solution that the Woodson Foundation wishes to implement is to integrate the two organizations. Incorporating these organizations will help create a positive learning environment for students. Students will have a support group to ensure they receive the best education possible. The integration of the two organizations will also give teachers the feeling that better options will be available to them as well. The second solution is to create an after-school...... middle of paper ......e their buildings, see what is necessary for the children's academic progress. New computers may be needed, better chalk or dry-erase boards, and the creation of an educational plan tailored to their individual success. The National Coalition for Parental Involvement in Education is responsible for ensuring that parents understand why this integration is necessary. As the old saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child; it takes the school and the parents to make these changes happen. Parents need to motivate their students to want to do better, to want to increase their test scores and overall academic performance. Some parents don't realize that they are the number one key to their children's success. Help their children develop their attitude and motivate them to do better. Schools can help communicate this need to parents
