Paper – Web SearchGoogle was the first search engine I used. The initial search terms I used were “leadership, theory, and research.” The search terms were broader terms than I had used in the last assignment and were an option suggested by my mentor. This search returned 2,110,000 results. This is obviously a huge amount of hits to examine. However, given that the first page of this search provided the link "Scholarly Articles for Learning, Theory and Research", this limited the need to assess the validity of sources from this link and therefore appeared to be a good start. " The link generated 1,420,000 visits. Scanning the first page of hit titles and annotations, several relevant options appeared. However, clicking on the first and several subsequent links revealed a summary, but to access the article, a fee was involved to view the article The request for payment led to a more in-depth process of locating the article in the Northcentral University library database However. , the option was taking a long time and we decided to postpone this search until Google's search options were exhausted Noticing links in large fonts on the right side, from the same search as here. This led to another search option: “academic preferences.” I was able to set the "Bibliography Manager" by setting the preference to Refworks and saving it for future use. I then used... middle of paper ... the material was becoming redundant but there were some interesting new articles but from the same sites that I had previously made notes in to examine these sites in depth. When I When I started this process, I hypothesized that Google would be the best and most reliable search option. I still maintain that this is a good research option, but I'm not completely convinced that it's the best. I was able to access more free sites with Yahoo as well as research material from primary and secondary sources. So I decided to complete my search engine evaluation on Yahoo. It was easy to use, the material presented was of high quality and relevant to my research. Yahoo has the ability to take notes, attach them to the website and save them for future use. The one feature I mentioned earlier that I would like for Yahoo is the ability to import directly into Refworks.
