Important Language Skills Among the Four Language SkillsCommunication plays an essential role in our daily lives. To acquire good communication, mastery of four language skills is important, namely reading, writing, listening and speaking. I studied a few articles in which the authors specified the importance of each language skill. They found a strong positive relationship between the four skills and stated that none of them is complete without the other. Effective communication is learned after having acquired these skills well. My goal in this article is to highlight the importance of the four language skills, particularly reading, which I consider to be the most important language skill. To this end, I have organized my article into four main sections. In the first section, I gave a brief introduction to each communication skill (i.e. reading, writing, listening and speaking) and highlighted the importance of each. In the second section, I report the importance and interrelation of the four communication skills separately and support and elaborate on the importance of reading skill for knowledge acquisition. I end my article with the third section which presents the conclusions drawn from my study and my observations, opening new perspectives for future studies. The third section follows the fourth section which presents the work that I cited in my article. Before stating the importance of reading, I begin my article by defining communication skills and defining each skill separately, and describing their importance in our life. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Everyone uses communication skills. We use them at home with our families, in the workplace with our bosses and colleagues, on our computers when we answer our emails. All of this requires communication... middle of paper... knowledge. If we have to write an essay for example and present it in front of an audience, we must first read the information related to the topic, then write it and present it. It is an ongoing process that only ends when the questions in our mind end. From the beginning, children should be accustomed to reading and focused reading in order to increase their IQ and caliber. Reading helps in reasoning and increases the analytical skills of an individual. Reading broadens one's vision and mind and helps the individual behave responsibly in society. He/she becomes an active member of society, improving all language skills, making the individual a good and effective communicator. So, according to my observations and studies, reading tends to be the most important language skill of the four skills, namely reading, writing, listening and speaking.
