This is a model/initiative of the Ministry of Education aimed at adolescents and still-learning school children who are disengaged in school or at serious risk. This program/model may focus on the following factors/problems: - Anxiety and depression - learning difficulties - social and behavioral problems - bullying - homelessness and transience - family difficulties. This means students are able to engage within the community by discovering learning options. outside of school so they can broaden links with other community organisations, for example Upper Mount Gravatt Public School is involved in Kids Hope, a church community which has come to help mentor the children. It could also contribute to emotional, social and intellectual levels that align with the school's policy and mission.
