JamaicaJamaica, located in the Caribbean and south of Cuba, has a population of 2,706,500 according to the 2011 census and an area of 4,243 square miles, its capital is Kingston which has approximately a quarter of its population. They are the 49th most densely populated country on the planet, with 656 people per square mile and a life expectancy of 71 years. For currency, one USD (US dollar) would be 107.95 JMD (Jamaican dollar), but a dozen eggs would cost 253.78 JMD, which would be 253.78 JMD. works out to about $3 for us. But what are they like and what do they eat? This is what I'm going to tell you. Jamaica's national dish is Ackee and Saltfish. Ackee is the national fruit of Jamaica but it is not a native plant, it was imported from West Africa and introduced to Jamaica before 1778. "Saltfish" is salted cod which can be boiled then stir-fried with boiled ackee, onions, tomatoes, and peppers. But ackee is poisonous if not prepared properly, so many people who don't know how to handle the fruit buy it in a can, most people who eat ackee and salted fish are usually Jamaicans who have left their homes.
