In March 2012, the Fair Labor Association conducted an in-depth investigation, commissioned by Apple, into working conditions in three large Chinese factories where iPhones, iPads and other products the company were made by Apple. Apple. The Fair Labor Association is a non-governmental organization deeply committed to promoting fair labor practices internationally. During their investigation, they discovered a number of serious violations of Apple's Supplier Code of Conduct, in addition to its own standards. When the Fair Labor Association completed its audit, it discovered the following problematic issues. For example, during peak periods, Taiwanese company Foxconn's production exceeded 60 hours per week, and many employees also had to work more than seven consecutive days before having a day off. According to Apple's code of conduct, an employee is only required to work 40 hours per week and must be given a day off after working 5 days.
