  • Essay / Law-Abiding Citizen: Psychosis - 867

In 1999, a home invasion occurred in which two burglars broke in and killed Clyde Shelton's wife and daughter. A terrifying incident occurred simply when Shelton opened the door without checking who was entering. He and his wife were tied up while they were stabbed, and their daughter was taken away (we assume she is also killed). Shelton seeks justice from prosecutor Nick Rice, but Rice finds no evidence against the two thieves. Rice is a high-ranking prosecutor with a high conviction rate. He wants to keep his stats high by making a deal with one of the thieves, Clarence Darby, for a lesser charge if he testifies against his accomplice, Rupert Ames. Shelton learns of this deal for Rice's career and feels as if he is being cheated by the justice system and is plotting revenge. Ten years later, one of the thieves, Ames, is executed for another crime and put to death by a toxic injection. Normally this type of execution is supposed to be painless, but in this case the injections were tampered with and Ames suffered a traumatic death. When investigators try to figure out who might have done this, they first turn to Darby. Darby is about to be arrested by the police when Shelton calls him in a disguised voice leading him to an abandoned warehouse. Shelton, revealing himself, paralyzes Darby and kills him in his warehouse in the most vicious way by dismembering him while recording. When investigators find Darby's body, they turn their attention to Shelton. Shelton voluntarily turns himself in and attempts to make a deal with Rice. He says if Rice gives him what he wants, he'll make a real confession. Meanwhile, investigators discover that Shelton owns property near the prison with middle of paper ......e methods of killing people. In conclusion, Shelton hasn't found a way to let off steam. his emotional stress which led him to develop psychosis due to anger. This film shows us how, even in some real-life cases, stress can cause problems. These problems are not only physical, but also mental. In light of what has been discussed, we need to find a way to exercise all of our emotions safely, in order to avoid any mental turmoil and acts of regret later in life.
