Essay / World Religion: Buddhism - 649
Buddhism is one of the most popular religions in the world, it originated in Nepal, where the “enlightened one” Saddartha Gotama was born. The word Buddhism comes from the word “Buddhi” which means to awaken. Buddhism is a non-theistic religion, meaning there is no god in their faith. Buddha is considered one of the enlightened rather than a God. An interesting fact about Buddhism, Saddartha Gotama recognizes Jesus Christ as a very good man and a prophet, but does not recognize him as the Messiah. Saddartha Gotama was born in a very rich family and he always wanted to find more purpose in life than money and materialistic things. He began his faith journey at a young age, and at the age of 35, he became enlightened. During his journey, he discovered the idea of Samsara, or the continuous, repetitive cycle of life and death that occurs before full enlightenment. Samsara is characterized by suffering, anxiety and depression. Karma is the force that drives Samsara, while most people think of karma as the main point of Buddhism. When these people are right, but at the same time they are wrong, Karma is the driving force of Samsara. Karma determines whether you have accomplished your mission and deserve to become an enlightened being. Buddhism is slowly becoming one of the most popular religions in the world. the world, and it is estimated that it had around 300 to 400 million followers as of early 2014. The number of followers has declined in Buddhism's original countries, due to the emergence of "new religions age” in this part of the world. My favorite thing about Buddhism is that it's about real things, even if it's not necessarily my specific faith, is that it never hurts to meditate on things when you can. The B...... middle of document ......conclusion, this presentation has helped me in my life and helped me find my inner peace. It actually really helped me. Most of Buddha's teachings are applicable to any average Joe, which is a category I would probably fall into, and just one simple project changed my outlook on life. I mean, I couldn't imagine what an in-depth study of Buddhism would do, but I guess it wouldn't exactly be the worst thing for most people in today's society. Realistically, the Buddha provides food for thought for anyone who wants to improve themselves mentally, physically, or spiritually. -mormon-church http://forums.catholic.com/showthread.php?t=429652 http://carm.org/mormonism http://www.rapidnet.com/~jbeard/bdm/Cults/mormon.htmhttp http://www.mormonteachings.com/
