Essay / Reflection of my life - 1014
Everyone's dream and aspirations to excel in life must be stronger and greater than the limitations imposed by others. The experiences I have been given in my short life have elevated me to the woman I am today. Please walk with me as I give you the opportunity to see the world through my eyes: To be the person I am now, I had to reflect and accept responsibility for my past actions. My past is a past that many would like to erase from their memory, a past that lay dormant until I found myself. The steps needed to find myself were letting go of my anger and self-pity. I had to look within myself and see my worth, which led me to believe that I ran away to college to forget my past. In the years before I started college, I fell out with friends, cared too much about my appearance, and became “that girl” who needed other people to be happy. I lost sight of my goal, to become a lawyer. My goals were buried by my current infatuation with materialization, so my dreams and values failed to create a facade that I came to despise. Through my journey and reflection, I have come to appreciate family values and redemption. Like others, my trials and tribulations have come full circle. My parents' union lasted 37 years. My parents emigrated to the United States to better themselves and their family. Their struggle to achieve the “American Dream” instilled family values and showed my siblings and me a direct connection to education and work. Growing up, my mother was the first woman to show me what tenacity meant. She stood at the forefront to prevent her family from becoming victims of society. In order to get her family out of the ghetto, she worked three...... middle of paper ...... at a legal aid center there and brought hope back to their community. I also plan to create a family foundation in honor of my mother, who paved the way for charity for many families. My mother's blood runs deep in my soul and I would not be complete if I could not help those in need. In conclusion, I am a strong woman who was broken by bad decisions. I am a stronger woman with the guidance of my family. I am a proud woman whose destiny became my backbone, which made my heart believe again. Through all my trials and tribulations, I remain humbled to know that I have made it this far, alongside my determination to become a law student. A law student, who will pass the bar and fulfill his destiny to become a lawyer, a lawyer who will stand strong, proud and humble to help families overcome their legal obstacles..
