  • Essay / The Amerindian - 846

We may not understand what makes us move forward day after day. No one gets it unless they have lived in someone else's footsteps. Ask any Native American. They lived a life of judgment and misunderstanding of others, and if they didn't, their ancestors did. Native Americans pass down stories from generation to generation, so they surely have heard what it was like to be misunderstood. They believe differently from other cultures, but no two cultures are alike. They have a very complicated and difficult to understand system when it comes to their opinions. How they perceive, believe, and operate their system is never fully understood unless one grows up with Native American culture. The religious culture of these people is what unites their tribes and their lives. Historically, Native American religions are very diverse among tribes. Most are unique to their individual tribe. Others are widely distributed across many tribes but still encounter differences among them. Indigenous religions, like other religious groups, have sacred sites. These sacred places are considered sacred not only by the native people themselves, but also by the US government which has now also designated them as protected. The Native American Church is considered the most popular of all Native American religions. This church teaches the Peyote religion. The religion originally originated in Mexico and was established among the tribes of the state of Oklahoma. The Peyote religion is the most widespread of all Native American religions. Although it varies from tribe to tribe, the main teaching remains consistent across all. It is used to communicate with the spirit world and is also used as medicine. Native American religion...... middle of paper ......ine The wheel can be interpreted in many ways, such as the stages of life, the seasons, and the elements of nature. Although Native Americans have a complicated system, it is certainly interesting. With deep culture, there is no end to learning. This is a question that no one other than Native Americans themselves can fully understand. Native Americans have a special connection to themselves, to the world around them, and to the land beneath our feet. This is a very special value to have. They are strong people and they would not be strong without their culture and their beliefs.
