Essay / Importance of Volunteering in Kenya - 1382
Americans have the opportunity to volunteer virtually, supported by employees, through eco-volunteering and other ways. However, it is not so simple for people in a developing country. However, Kenya is similar to the United States in that they are equally motivated to give due to their values and understanding of certain issues, their desire to strengthen social relationships, and the opportunity to solve their personal problems (protection ), etc. The most common religion in Kenya is Christianity and Christians tend to believe in almsgiving, helping the poor and needy and helping children to be better. As noted in the previous section, many philanthropists and volunteers are interested in either children, the medical field, or both. America also has many religious people who also tend to give more because of their religious background and values. America was formed on the two pillars of Protestantism and capitalism; and Kenya has 47.4% Protestants. Chandaria likely gave to GCH because he believed in their desire to provide health care even to poor children whose families cannot afford health care. Another similarity is that Kenyans also donate money, time and services in the form of philanthropy and volunteering, like in the United States.
