Essay / Fluid Flow - 1785
Introduction: In many industrial processes today, it is important to accurately measure fluid flow in a system as a whole or in part. This also applies to liquids and gases (e.g. carbon dioxide, nitrogen, liquors, etc.) which are an integral part of the process, or to compress air, water or steam which are fundamental to the operation of the factory. The installation of any flow meter can be explained in two ways. Firstly, process control where the flow meter is used to measure the flow of fluid or energy to enable the process to be controlled and thus be certain that the final product is of good quality. the required quality. Second, there is the allocation of costs when energy is used to provide process or space heating. It is fundamental to know where the costs associated with energy are actually incurred. Energy costs are allocated to a particular product, service or other user per flow meter, typically resulting in a significant reduction in total energy costs. The advantage of flow measurement is that it can allocate heating costs. Not only that, it also improves process control, identifies major energy users, monitors the results of process changes, checks the efficiency of steam boilers, identifies energy patterns throughout the day and provides management information. In today's world, orifice plates are still the most widely used type of flow meter. The main reason they are used over other flow meters is because they offer cost advantages, particularly in larger pipe sizes, and have proven to be robust, reliable and efficient over the years. The orifice plate continues to provide a very competitive solution when there is a need for a robust, cost-effective flow meter with a turndown ratio of no more than 4:1...... middle of paper ...... so a result can be very precise but inaccurate. Thus, an experiment that has a precise answer is considered a more successful experiment than one that has a precise value but an inaccurate answer. Conclusion: To summarize, this experiment has proven that there will always be losses in the system but the system can be made more efficient to minimize losses and therefore reduce costs. The experiment carried out to determine the volume flow rate experimentally and theoretically showed that there were errors in the experiment when the experimental value was compared with the theoretical value. One of the most obvious possibilities for error that could have occurred during the experiment was human error. However, these errors can be reduced by repeating the experiment more than twice and also if possible by using better equipment..
