Urinary Tract Infections Using Indwelling Urethral CathetersSystematic ReviewA systematic review is a scientific approach that examines different research studies and their results. The results of the different studies are combined so that they can be studied more effectively by researchers (Nieswiadomy, 2012, p. 279). Systematic reviews are important for evidence-based practices because they allow medical professionals to practice safely on patients. The evidence-based practices that are reviewed consistently decrease the risk of infections among patients and in health care settings.
