  • Essay / Compare and Contrast Us and France - 1365

and France are somewhat similar as they are both advanced mixed economies. The United States has an unemployment rate of 9.8%, while France has a slightly lower unemployment rate of 8.1%. However, despite a higher unemployment rate, the United States has gross domestic savings per capita of $8,113.69, while France's gross domestic savings per capita stands at $6,992.15. The U.S. population of 316.67 million dwarfs France's population of just 65.95 million, which could partly explain the increase in unemployment because the working population is considerably larger. American citizens may have more uncertainty about finding a job than French citizens, but on average they are able to save more of the money they earn. This could be partly due to their spending habits, but it shows that Americans are better prepared for an unexpected financial crisis. For what? This luxury adds to the overall quality of life of American citizens.
