  • Essay / Commitment and morality in Hamlet - 1055

“I will erase all the trivial affectionate records, all the saws of the books, all the forms, all the past pressures, which youth and observation have copied there; And thy commandment alone shall live in the book and volume of my brain” (Shakespeare 31). As the truth comes to light, Hamlet vows to his father to take absolute revenge on his uncle. He says he will clear all thoughts from his mind and focus on one thing; murder his uncle. Furthermore, Hamlet demonstrates qualitative commitment in the fact that he will base his entire life solely on revenge, thus demonstrating a high level of commitment.
