Chapter 3: I believe the most crucial part of the plot is that the focus is on Gatsby because of the extravagant parties he threw during summer. Nick was actually invited, even though many guests showed up. Nick also treats Gatsby's place with respect, where the others get really drunk and use his place as an amusement park.
