Nowadays, the public school system has made success and graduation more and more rigorous. One of the steps students must now take is to take a standardized assessment. In many education systems, if students do not pass this test, they will not be allowed to move on to the next level or even graduate in some cases. Not only does this test have serious negative consequences for them if they don't pass it, but it also has negative consequences for their instructors and their school. If students do not progress or demonstrate competence, it can affect their teachers' salaries and even their jobs. Schools may not be able to receive adequate funding if their test scores do not show growth, which could make a school less functional than it already is. As noted above, there are many problems with the way standardized testing is implemented in our public school system. In total, more than 525 public schools across the state of Texas have signed a national resolution calling for an end to the overemphasis on standardized testing. . (Parents for Public Schools Inc.) "The resolution states that excessive emphasis on standardized testing has "caused considerable collateral damage in too many schools, including narrowing the curriculum, teaching to the tests, reducing 'love of learning, pushing students out of school'. school, driving excellent teachers from the profession and undermining school climate. » (Parents for Public Schools Inc.) This resolution also called for reform that creates a new system based on multiple ways of assessing student growth and knowledge. Last month, President Obama granted relief from the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act to prevent the paper from being used. This is proven by the New York City school systems; Campbell's Law also proves that the results of high-stakes assessments will be skewed; the cause is most likely cheating.
