The legacy of the Romans is extremely important and quite extensive. Many things that are part of daily life were introduced or improved by the Romans. Over the centuries since the collapse of the Roman Empire, Roman ideas about law, government, literature, art, and architecture have influenced many people around the world. The Roman influence on architecture is illustrated not only by sports arenas, but also by churches, courthouses, sewers and many other public works and buildings. Roman law is one of the two major contributors to Western law (the other being English Common Law). Roman civil law forms the basis of almost all legal systems outside the United States, the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth (which are more influenced by Common Law) and parts of the Muslim world (which govern according to common law). religious).
