    Unlike tyrannies or rulers who rule for themselves, philosopher kings are well-educated rulers. For Plato, these kings are ideal for peaceful government. Philosopher kings, as Plato details, should be able to fulfill philosophical and political roles in their society, to do so one must have a constant desire for knowledge and a sense of truthfulness. Philosopher kings, in their constant quest for knowledge, are well informed about political affairs and in their need to maintain society, they are best suited to occupy a position of government. Rather than letting decisions be made by incompetent people, Plato believed that decisions should be made by knowledge and knowledge.
